Susan’s Story: Living with Undiagnosed Osteoporosis

Susan, a former elementary school teacher, began experiencing severe back pain that ended her career at age 47. After seven spinal compression fractures sent her to the ER, she was diagnosed with osteoporosis caused by underlying hyperparathyroidism.

Today, she shares her journey and reminds physicians to consider osteoporosis evaluation in women with early menopause or other warning signs of secondary causes.
