Statement of Interest
AMWA is such an amazing organization and I’m so grateful to my fellow board members for their thoughtfulness and engagement in ensuring we live up to our mission and vision. My first term as a board member began with a steep learning curve but with the encouragement and leadership from the experienced board members, I quickly gained my footing and felt myself grow into a competent member of the team. Since my election to the board, I’ve helped hone our new mission and vision, given input into our awards and learned the inner workings of the budget. If elected to a second term, I will help pass on my knowledge to the new board members and continue the work to ensure AMWA remains on solid footing so we can keep advocating for women physicians and women’s healthcare for another 100 years.
How will you help AMWA fulfill its vision?
As the only medical organization focused solely on women physicians and women’s health, AMWA has an important role to play in advocating for equity in all levels of healthcare, including medical school, residency training, in academia and the community healthcare organizations in which we work. Despite the current political climate, AMWA has remained steadfast in its support of reproductive healthcare and efforts to ensure diversity, equity and inclusion. In order to fully support our mission and vision, AMWA must not be afraid to stand up for women in healthcare and women’s health. We can do this by continuing to sign on to amicus briefs in support of those who identify as women and women’s health, putting out public statements regarding current events, and pushing back at misinformation and disinformation regarding vaccines, public health and reproductive healthcare. We must also remain part of the Reproductive Healthcare Coalition and help educate people about the importance of access to full reproductive care, including abortion care and training for students and residents. We owe this not only to the roughly 10,000 AMWA members, but to all the women physicians who came before us and yet to come.
Experiences and Perspective
I am an emergency physician practicing in a community setting. I am not affiliated directly with a university and have more freedom to speak openly to the media as a result. For the past 5 years, I have been advocating for gun safety, healthcare access, and reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights in Tennessee. I have formed strong ties with state lawmakers, as well as several organizations working to make Tennessee healthier, safer and more inclusive. This experience has given me the confidence to speak to the media in interviews and go on long form television programs, as well as give lectures on becoming a healthcare advocate, reproductive healthcare and maternal mortality. I have been expanding my online profile on several platforms, using both short posts as well as videos and long form posts on Substack to educate people about events related to healthcare. With the help of other organizations like Protect My Care, the Committee to Protect Healthcare and Doctors for America, I’ve helped to sound the alarm about the impending Medicaid and SNAP cuts which will hurt our patients, hospitals and communities. AMWA could benefit from elevating our profile with national media outreach as well as a bigger social media presence.

Statement of Interest
I am seeking the Member-at-Large position because I believe deeply in AMWA’s mission and feel called to contribute in a greater capacity to an organization that has been a source of connection, purpose, and advocacy throughout my career. As an AMWA EVOLVE coach, committee member, and Exceptional Mentor Award recipient, I’ve seen the transformational impact AMWA has on women physicians. I want to help shape its future by building supportive programming, strengthening mentorship networks, and expanding outreach to early- and mid-career physicians. With national leadership experience in wellness, coaching, and medical education, I bring the skills—and heart—to serve this community well. I would be honored to serve and contribute meaningfully to AMWA’s continued growth and influence.
How will you help AMWA fulfill its vision?
I have dedicated my career to building programs that center physician wellbeing, justice, and growth—values that align directly with AMWA’s vision. As someone who transitioned from surgery to internal medicine, I’ve experienced how systemic and cultural barriers impact career fulfillment, especially for women. Through my work leading national wellness initiatives and coaching women physicians, I’ve seen how our potential is often stifled by the pressure to conform—whether in appearance, behavior, or career path. I believe health and strength should be self-defined. I can help AMWA create spaces where women feel empowered to lead authentically, advocate boldly, and support one another meaningfully. Together, we can model a new definition of success—one that honors each woman’s full potential.
Experiences and Perspective
I bring a multidimensional perspective grounded in clinical care, academic leadership, and wellness innovation. As a DO, a former surgical resident, and now an academic internist, I understand the complexities of career transitions and the cultural pressures women face in different specialties. I’ve led efforts in DEI, anti-racism education, humanities-based wellness, and professional development across disciplines. My work spans inpatient medicine, primary care, curriculum development, and national coaching platforms. I’ve mentored learners at every level—from high school students to senior faculty—and have a strong track record of building inclusive, values-driven programs. AMWA thrives when it reflects the depth and diversity of its members; I hope to help expand its reach, amplify underrepresented voices, and drive progress through collaboration, humility, and action.
