We want to hear your story!

In a landmark effort to illuminate how reproductive identity intersects with the professional lives of women in medicine, the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) is proud to co-sponsor a narrative-based study titled Reproductive Life Stories of Women in Medicine.

This IRB-approved study (NU IRB #IORG0000247; TC IRB #25-340) aims to collect firsthand accounts from women physicians—especially those currently navigating or reflecting on reproductive decisions during their residency, fellowship, or early career. These stories will shape institutional policies that better support women physicians at every stage of life.

Too often, the reproductive experiences of women in medicine remain unheard. This study creates a safe and meaningful space for those stories to be told, validated, and used to advocate for structural change.

Who Can Participate?

Physicians, residents, and fellows who identify as women and are currently navigating—or have navigated—reproductive choices during their medical training or early practice are encouraged to participate.

What to Expect:

Participants will complete a brief online questionnaire followed by a confidential 60–90 minute one-on-one Zoom interview. Each participant will be scheduled for a 2-hour block, though the session is not expected to take the full time. Time slots are available on Thursday evenings from 7–9 PM ET.

Why This Matters:

As AMWA continues to advocate for gender equity in medicine, this study amplifies the voices that are often missing in decision-making spaces. Your story has the power to inform future workplace policies, normalize conversations around reproductive transitions, and support the next generation of women in medicine.

We are not just collecting data—we are building a movement toward reproductive justice, career sustainability, and leadership equity in healthcare.
