Since its founding in 1915, the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) has stood as a powerful advocate for the advancement of women in medicine. From championing education opportunities for women in medical training to supporting physicians through mentorship and sponsorship, AMWA has played a key role in standing nurturing the next generation of women physicians. Among the many barriers AMWA has worked to dismantle, financial burdens has been a consistent focus.

Over the decades, AMWA addressed these issues through student scholarships, grants, loan programs, fee waivers, and financial workshops. Generations of AMWA members benefited from no-interest loans to help them through a challenging period. Grateful members have shared with us how important that funding was in helping them continue on their career path. Unfortunately, the loan program was closed in the early 21th century, due to a downsizing of staff.

A New Partnership with Doc2Doc Lending

Now, in 2025, AMWA is excited to partner with Doc2Doc Lending, a program that provides personal loan solutions for AMWA members at all career stages — from relocation for residency, to managing life’s transitions during training, to starting or expanding a private practice. Doc2Doc also offers financial literacy resources to support our members every step of the way, helping to empower smarter financial decisions through every phase of a medical career.

Doc2Doc Lending was founded by physicians who understood firsthand the financial pressures of medical education, residency, and early practice. Unlike traditional lenders, Doc2Doc offers loans designed specifically for doctors and doctors-in-training, considering the unique earning trajectories and career paths of medical professionals. Their approach provides faster, more accessible funding options at fair rates, helping to ease financial strain during critical years of professional and personal growth.

Continuing the Legacy of Support

By aligning with Doc2Doc Lending, AMWA is once again stepping up to provide its members with the tools and resources they need to thrive—not just academically, but financially. This partnership ensures that the next generation of women physicians will have access to more flexible financial options, empowering them to pursue their passions without being sidelined by debt.
