What challenges have you faced in your medical career?
Throughout her career, Dr. Viv has navigated the challenges many women face in medicine, limited access to leadership roles, and being overlooked for non-clinical opportunities. These barriers have fueled her mission to create pathways for women physicians to lead, innovate, and thrive beyond the bedside.
How can others connect with you?
If you’re exploring AI in your organization and looking for guidance grounded in ethics and strategy, I welcome the conversation. We’re at a pivotal moment in medicine, and I’m passionate about helping physician leaders prepare for what’s next with clarity, courage, and care.
Are you active in any AMWA initiatives or leadership roles? How has this shaped your career path?
Dr. Viv has been a dedicated supporter of AMWA for over 15 years, serving as a media trainer, moderator, real estate educator, sponsor, and partner. Most recently, as the AMWA Texas State Ambassador, she has continued to champion women physicians by opening doors to non-clinical opportunities and guiding members toward impactful paths beyond traditional medicine.
Have you had an “ah-ha” moment that changed your trajectory?
Dr. Viv experienced a defining ah-ha moment after serving over 20 years in physician leadership roles, including Medical Director and Chief Medical Officer. As artificial intelligence began to reshape the healthcare landscape, she recognized a troubling pattern, technology was advancing faster than leadership, and once again, clinicians were being left out of the room. Determined not to let history repeat itself, she committed two years to expanding her expertise, earning several advanced AI certifications. This shift became a turning point in her career, fueling her mission to ensure physician leaders are not just reacting to AI, but actively leading its integration with purpose, confidence, and clarity.
What advice would you give other women in medicine?
Dr. Viv believes that for women in medicine, clinical expertise is just the starting point, not the limit. Her advice: don’t wait for permission to lead. Diversify boldly, apply your talents beyond traditional healthcare, and bring that innovation back to help transform the system. The future of medicine depends on women physicians showing up fully in and beyond the exam room.
