4th Anniversary of Dobbs: Day of Reflection

Why This Record Matters

This record as the beginning of a historical record of available or submitted accounts describing adverse outcomes associated with abortion bans and restrictions, including maternal deaths, delayed or denied emergency care, pregnancy complications, barriers to treatment, criminal investigations, disruptions in medical training and practice, and other consequences linked to abortion restrictions. Through these stories, we hope to foster understanding of the far-reaching effects that changes in reproductive healthcare access have had on patients, families, healthcare professionals, and communities across the country.

Many of these stories became public only because patients, family members, healthcare professionals, journalists, researchers, or advocates chose to share their experiences. We recognize that this collection represents only a small fraction of the total impact.
