The South Bay AMWA Annual Event of the year was held on November 21 at the elegant Hotel Juniper in Cupertino, CA, organized by South Bay AMWA President and AMWA Board Member Dr. Gloria Wu. The gathering brought together physicians, trainees, and colleagues for a dynamic program centered on issues that matter to women in medicine. It proved to be a vibrant, high-energy evening of learning, community, and celebration.
The agenda covered a remarkable range of topics: Nutrition and Food Supplements, Colon Cancer Screening, Allergy in Women, What’s New in Dry Eye, Neurotrophic Keratitis, Geriatric Health, Menopause, Cardiac Disease in Women, Osteoporosis, Breast Cancer, Gallbladder Surgery, Da Vinci Robotics, and even Men’s Health — a true reflection of AMWA’s multidisciplinary strength. And if you’ve never heard of MINOCA or INOCA—look up these terms. Each underscores how heart disease can present differently in women and how these conditions are far more common than we once realized.
The evening was wonderful, fun, and genuinely energizing, with South Bay AMWA members expressing warm appreciation for Dr. Wu’s leadership and her ongoing commitment to supporting women physicians in the region. A lively raffle of original paintings, embroidery, and books added to the sense of community and celebration.
Dr. Wu is also helping to plan the upcoming 2026 AMWA Annual Meeting, to be held March 27-29, 2026, conveniently near SFO Airport. Registration is now open. If this South Bay event is any indication, the Annual Meeting promises to be exceptional.
San Francisco has so much to offer— from iconic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and sea lions basking at Pier 39 to the chance to ride in a Waymo and enjoy a classic clam-chowder bread bowl on the waterfront.
Come for the science, stay for the sourdough.
We can’t wait to welcome you to the AMWA Annual Meeting in San Francisco.
