The AMWA physician awards are presented annually to celebrate excellence in scholarship, advocacy, education, leadership, and service. More than recognition, these awards honor the exemplary achievements of and for women physicians and allies. This year, AMWA will present awards to 11 illustrious physicians at the Gala Dinner on March 28, 2026,

“These awards provide AMWA with the opportunity to elevate the voices of physicians who champion equity, improve health outcomes, and model purposeful leadership for future generations of women in medicine,” says Dr. Susan Hingle, AMWA Immediate Past President and Awards Chair.
The 2026 AMWA Physician Award Recipients are:
- Elena Fuentes-Afflick, MD, MPH to be honored with the 2026 Elizabeth Blackwell Women in Medicine Career Achievement Award for visionary leadership and an unwavering commitment to the advancement of equity for women in medicine
- Christina V. Mangurian, MD, MAS, to accept the 2026 AMWA Award for Advocacy in Advancing Women Physicians and the Health of Women
- Adebisi (Bisi) All, DO, MS, will receive the Bertha Van Hoosen Award for Leadership and Service to AMWA
- Mark Linzer, MD, has been selected as the Camille Mermod Awardee for Exceptional Service
- Melissa Swee, MD, to Receive the AMWA Early Career Physician Award for Outstanding Achievement
- Eleanor Reid, MD, PhD, will receive the Esther Pohl Lovejoy Award for Improving International Health
- The Larry Zaroff Man of Good Conscience Award will be presented to Terence Flotte, MD
- Sharonne N Hayes, MD, will be honored with the Lila A. Wallis Lifetime Achievement Award for Advancing Women’s Health
- Melissa Simon, MD, MPH, MBA, will receive the Woman in Science Award
- Jessi Gold, MD, MS, will be honored with the Presidential Recognition Award
- Caitlin Bernard, MD, will be celebrated with the Presidential Recognition Award
These awards will be presented in person at the 2026 Gala during the 111th AMWA Annual Meeting in San Francisco (March 27-29).
