More than a decade of physicians, healthcare professionals, and students standing together to confront one of the most pressing human rights and public health crises of our time.

Over these years, PATH has grown from a grassroots effort within AMWA into a robust program to equip healthcare providers with the knowledge and tools to identify, treat, and support survivors of human trafficking. Thousands of healthcare practitioners and trainees have been trained through our programs, helping to ensure that survivors are no longer unseen in our healthcare system. While our main focus is physicians, we also train law enforcement, apps, nurses, allied health practitioners, social workers, dentists, first responders, law professionals and students — at little to no cost. We are addressing practitioner resiliency, secondary and tertiary trauma, and mitigating burnout in this sector. Read more about our history here and the leadership of our past PATH Presidents – Dr. Kanani Titchen, Dr. Elizabeth Berdan, Dr. Traci Kurtzer and current Presidents Dr. Johi Jain and Dr. Zayn Gerakitis.

AMWA – PATH is also expanding focus to include emerging populations / topics, including veterans, organs transplants, climate change, positive childhood events, and emergency response in the field.

Our goal in AMWA is to ensure that PATH’s mission will be sustained for generations to come. Part of this long-term vision is to grow strong financial reserves, so that long after individual leaders have passed the torch, PATH will continue to thrive, equipping healthcare providers, shaping policy, and standing with survivors in perpetuity.

Please consider a donation to help PATH build the foundation that will carry this work forward for decades. Our goal is to raise $75,000 and every contribution counts. Together, we can ensure that healthcare practitioners across the country remain prepared to respond with compassion, expertise, and advocacy for years to come.

Those who give $500 and up will receive a specially designed PATH pin with the PATH logo. Learn more about the symbolic meaning of our logo below.

About the logo:

The original PATH logo was designed by NYC Product Design Director Consuelo Ruybal. The “A” in PATH forms a teepee or shelter over the individual, represented

by a circle. Our role as practitioners is to build a medical home for these patients, providing guidance on their path to recovery and healing.

Please consider a contribution of any amount that will ensure a lasting legacy of healing and hope.
