As President of the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA), Dr. Paulette Cazares is focused on advancing women physicians, improving the health of women, and strengthening physician leadership. 

She assumed her role during AMWA’s 111th Annual Meeting in March 2026. Dr. Cazares now leads the organization during a time of important and growing national attention to women’s health, physician well-being, healthcare workforce challenges, and health equity. Working alongside the AMWA Board of Directors and volunteer leaders across the country, she is helping guide the organization’s advocacy, educational programs, leadership development initiatives, and strategic partnerships. 

Since taking office, she oversaw AMWA delegates attend the 79th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, as well as the American Medical Association Annual Meeting, advancing policies and initiatives that support AMWA’s mission and vision. “AMWA has a long history of advancing women physicians and improving the health of women through leadership, education, advocacy, and mentorship,” said Dr. Cazares. “I am honored to serve as President and look forward to working alongside our members and partners to strengthen our impact and create new opportunities for women physicians at every stage of their careers.” 

Under Dr. Cazares’ leadership, AMWA will continue to expand initiatives that support professional development, advance evidence-based advocacy, promote women’s health, and strengthen global engagement. Supporting Dr. Cazares is a distinguished leadership team of physicians, trainees, and healthcare professionals from across the country who help guide AMWA’s strategic priorities, governance, educational programs, and advocacy initiatives.
