AMWA physician M. Tresa Chappell, MD is the 2026 recipient of the Distinction in Community Service Award. The Distinction in Community Service Award honors distinguished alumni from the Emory School of Medicine who have provided extraordinary service to their community, fulfilling the obligations of their education through creative citizenship and exemplary leadership.
A 2004 graduate of Emory School of Medicine, M. Tresa Chappell, MD is is the 2026 recipient of the Distinction in Community Service Award. The Distinction in Community Service Award honors distinguished alumni from the Emory School of Medicine who have provided extraordinary service to their community, fulfilling the obligations of their education through creative citizenship and exemplary leadership.
The Nominating Committee of the School of Medicine Alumni Board was exceptionally impressed by Dr. Chappell’s sustained leadership in community-focused pediatric care—building school-based clinics, expanding free services for underserved families, and engaging medical students in impactful hands-on service.
Dr. Chappell is currently an assistant professor of Pediatrics at the AU/UGA Medical Partnership and an active AMWA member of her chapter.
