AMWA Launches New Parent Newsletters to Support the Journey to Medicine
The path to becoming a physician is an exciting one—but it can also be unfamiliar territory for the parents and families supporting students along the way. To help families better understand this journey, AMWA is launching two new resources: the AMWA Premed Parent Newsletter and the AMWA Medical Student Parent Newsletter.
These newsletters are designed to give parents a window into the experiences, milestones, opportunities, and challenges their students may encounter—from preparing for medical school and navigating the application process to progressing through medical education, residency applications, and the transition to becoming a physician.
Along the way, parents will also learn more about the changing landscape of medicine and the unique experiences of women pursuing careers as physicians. Each newsletter will offer practical information, helpful resources, and insights into ways families can provide meaningful support while encouraging their students to develop independence and confidence in their own professional journey.
For AMWA, supporting the next generation of women physicians means recognizing the community that surrounds them. Parents and families often serve as important sources of encouragement, perspective, and support throughout the many years of education and training.
Through these new newsletters, AMWA hopes to help parents better understand the road ahead—and feel connected to the remarkable journey their students have undertaken.
Because behind every future woman physician is often a family who is cheering her on.
