Mark Shapiro, MD

Dr. Mark Shapiro from Explore the Space Show will present his lecture “Things I Didn’t Learn in Training About Firearms”. He has presented to major medical centers and organizations around the United States. He is an award winning public speaker who has presented his talk regarding gender equity, climate change disaster management, and firearm awareness all around the country. He has been highly involved in a variety of advocacy efforts including serving on an advisory board member on several hospital and philanthropic boards as well as participating in numerous committees dedicated towards quality and improvement in patient and physician outcomes.

Mark Shapiro, MD is a practicing Hospitalist & the creator, producer & host of Explore The Space Podcast, a show focused on bringing those who provide healthcare and those who seek healthcare closer together through conversations with leaders from across the spectrum. Dr. Shapiro is a two-time TEDx speaker and a nationally sought-after speaker. He has spoken on a variety of topics including gender equity, climate change and disaster management and is a successful producer of live shows and roundtable events, and is a well-known panel moderator on a wide variety of topics. Dr. Shapiro was also the 2024 recipient of the AMWA Larry Zaroff Man of Good Conscience Award.
