The American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) Music and Medicine and Humanities Committee members have delighted us at several AMWA conferences with their engaging presentations and performances.

In September, the “quartet” of four physicians embarked on playing to an international audience.

Drs. Mary Rorro, Sydelle Ross, Olapeju Simoyan and Lisa Wong were invited to Berlin, Germany in September 18-21, 2024 to the International Association for Music and Medicine Conference and The International Society for Arts and Medicine (ISfAM) joint conference titled “The Future of Music and Arts in Medicine and Health.”

They presented their work in blending the arts and humanities into their diverse practices and in AMWA, highlighting the intersection of music and the creative arts in guiding patients in their journey to wellness through the healing arts.

The doctors described the transformative role that the arts have played in their personal and professional lives and how they harness it as a vital tool in their own treatment settings. Captivating performances by these gifted musicians dazzled the audience.

The team also introduced the Humanities and Healing: An Arts and Medicine Journal to attendees to showcase the breadth of talent of women and men in medicine and showed the Women in Medicine Photography exhibit.

The four physicians inspired conference attendees with their meaningful work, fostered new connections on an international level and proudly represented AMWA at the IAMM/ISfAm conference.
