Innovating Menopause Management: A Check In On Menopause Presentation

AMWA is advocating for the adoption of a model of care to establish a dedicated appointment for patients approaching the menopausal transition. This approach ensures a consistent, individualized plan that encompasses the evaluation and management of menopausal symptoms and elevated risk for common comorbidities such as CVD, osteoporosis.

Overview:

The experience of menopause differs significantly from patient to patient, yet many physicians do not have sufficient training to adequately manage menopausal symptoms. Couple that with bias and trauma, which are associated with more severe menopause symptoms, and it becomes a health disparity issue.

This CME course introduces the concept of creating a dedicated appointment for every patient with menopause to establish an individualized plan. Implementing the AMWA Check In On Menopause approach will ensure that time is devoted to the often troublesome but overlooked symptoms, and the need to consider elevated risk for certain chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis, as well as including considerations of any social determinants of health.

The ultimate goal is to improve healthcare by establishing a patient-centered treatment plan that ensures regular, targeted follow-up care to monitor health outcomes and make adjustments to treatment throughout menopause.
