Dr. Elizabeth Garner (Immediate Past President) and Dr. Deborah Kwolek (Chair, AMWA-Sex and Gender Health Collaborative) represented AMWA at an interdisciplinary workshop: The Next Frontier in Women’s Health: Harnessing Innovation to Power Interdisciplinary Research, held at the White House. This workshop was a collaboration between the White House Gender Policy Council and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to showcase how the NIH is “harnessing interdisciplinary research and innovation to accelerate and improve health for all women.” Participants included NIH leadership, Institute and Center Directors, and members of the women’s health research community. Keynote speakers included: Dr. Monica Bertagnolli (NIH Director), Dr. Tara Schwetz (NIH Deputy Director for Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives), Dr. Janine Clayton (NIH Associate Director for Research on Women’s Health and Director of the Office of Research on Women’s Health), Dr. Caroline Mazure (Chair, White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research), and Dr. Jennifer Klein (Director, White House Gender Policy Council).
