Four Years After Dobbs: A Day of Reflection
On June 24, 2026, the fourth anniversary of the Dobbs decision, the Reproductive Health Coalition, co-founded by AMWA and Doctors for America, is sharing stories that reflect the impact of the past four years.
This anniversary provides an opportunity to remember those whose lives have been affected by abortion bans and restrictions, acknowledge the experiences that have been documented, and recognize the many stories that may never become part of the public record. Through these stories, we hope to foster understanding of the far-reaching effects that changes in reproductive healthcare access have had on patients, families, healthcare professionals, and communities across the country.
Our goal is to document and preserve evidence of reported outcomes, including maternal deaths, delayed or denied emergency care, pregnancy complications, barriers to treatment, criminal investigations, disruptions in medical training and practice, and other documented consequences linked to abortion restrictions. Every entry represents a person, family, healthcare professional, or community affected by policies that changed access to reproductive healthcare.
Many of these stories became public only because patients, family members, healthcare professionals, journalists, researchers, or advocates chose to share their experiences. We recognize the courage it takes to speak publicly about deeply personal and often painful events.
At the same time, this collection likely represents only a small fraction of the total impact. Many incidents never become public due to privacy concerns, legal risks, fear of stigma, limited media coverage, incomplete data collection, or barriers to healthcare reporting.
